HOPS (Henley Outdoor Play Scheme) is a long-running, OFSTED-registered summer camp that brings hundreds of children together during the school holidays for a week of hands-on fun. Open to school years 1 to 7, it offers a wide mix of creative and active sessions, from sports and inflatables to crafts, cookery and woodwork. It’s a place where kids can learn new skills, build confidence and make friends in a safe, supportive environment. HOPS plays a big role in Henley’s community spirit, bringing families together and giving local businesses, like OHW Carpentry, a chance to give back in a meaningful way

Each summer, OHW Carpentry leads woodwork sessions at HOPS, giving children the chance to get hands-on with tools and build something of their own. With guidance and support, the kids take on simple, rewarding projects like birdhouses, bug hotels, benches, swords and shields – all designed to be safe, fun and confidence-building.
It’s a chance for them to explore practical skills, get creative and enjoy the satisfaction of making something from scratch. For us, it’s one of the highlights of the year. We love helping children try something new, and it’s a great way to connect with families and give back to the Henley community in a meaningful way.
